TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology University Library
The Leibniz Information Center for Science and Technology, University Library (TIB) represents and operates a national research infrastructure facility providing scientific information in the domains of engineering, information technology, mathematics, physics, chemistry and architecture. TIB is a member of the German research organization “Leibniz Association” comprising over 90 leading institutes from all areas of science. TIB preserves and organizes information, data and knowledge in its target domains and provides direct access to these large-scale information spaces through digital services. With its vast collections and innovative services, TIB supports the complete life-cycle of research and the digitization of science and technology. As the world’s largest specialized information center in the aforementioned domains, TIB has outstanding expertise in developing, managing and preserving knowledge, particularly in key areas such as grey literature (e.g. conference and research reports), big research data, vocabularies and ontologies, films and 3D objects, as well as patents and standards, offering comprehensive consulting, research and technology transfer pathways.
Role in the Project
In FAIR2Adapt, TIB leads the Work Package on User-facing Knowledge Services in Support for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), supporting CCA with user-friendly knowledge services for data analysis and knowledge synthesis and Web-based publishing and knowledge integration in relevant Knowledge Hubs. This encompasses translating user requirements from case studies into concrete service specifications, developing and deploying digital services that facilitate efficient data analysis and knowledge synthesis in CCA, including developing plugins for popular community tools like QGIS, Python and R packages, or Excel Add-ins. By means of a knowledge service clinic, TIB actively supports the case studies in service use, including developing code snippets that explain how to interact with specific APIs or HOWTOs detailing usage of a package or tool. Moreover, TIB leads FAIR2Adapt’s Outreach, Communication, and Dissemination, encompassing technology transfer approaches that ensure the uptake and scaling of project results collaborating with diverse, relevant, and local stakeholders, including the EU Adaptation Mission and EOSC.
