SEI Oxford Centre

SEI is an international non-profit research institute that tackles environment and sustainable development challenges.

SEI empowers partners to meet these challenges through cutting-edge research, knowledge, tools and capacity building. Scientific quality and integrity are foundations of the organization’s work. Partnership is at the heart of SEI’s approach, leading to change that lasts.

SEI’s work connects science to policy and practice, aiming to drive tangible impacts. It spans climate change, natural resources, water, air, and health, and addresses questions of governance, innovation, finance, poverty, gender equality and social equity.

Through SEI’s HQ and seven centres around the world, the organization engages with policy, practice and development action for a sustainable, prosperous future for all.

SEI Oxford conducts frontier research to develop new tools, networks, and platforms to generate broader insights, and to steer policies and practices toward sustainability. SEI’s expertise spans a wide variety of disciplines, among them: Climate services; Adaptation decision support; Institutional strengthening and capacity building; Vulnerability analysis and adaptation screening; Knowledge “brokering” to improve communication and learning; desinging transdisciplinary knowledge co-production processes for decision-making; creating connections between climate change adaptation and disaster risk resilience; and, analysis of cascading, cross-border risks from climate change.

Role in the Project

In FAIR2Adapt SEI Oxford Centre maps ongoing adaptation decision-making processes and to collect knowledge requirements on enablers and barriers to creating comprehensive and scientifically sound climate adaptation strategies and plans using FAIR data. SEI Oxford also leads a case study on the weADAPT platform and the Climate Connectivity Hub tool.
