Instytut Chemii Bioorganicznej PAN – Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center

PSNC is an internationally renowned node of the European Research Area, operating advanced e-Infrastructure and continuously expanding its activity as a R&D center in ICT. Via its unique facilities, resources and services, PSNC supports research activities in many different domains. With core mission to foster scientific excellence by providing reliable and cutting-edge e-Infrastructure, PSNC has 400+ employees, and has participated in 350+ projects, coordinating 40+ of them. PSNC has several active computer science R&D departments working on different aspects, including widely recognized activities and results related to semantic data modeling, data harmonization and integration, semantic interoperability, as well as experience with deploying and operating HPC systems and cloud infrastructures. PSNC has been contributing to different projects/initiaves aiming to support the adoption of FAIR and Open Science principles; it has a strong involvement in EOSC and has participated in several recent and ongoing related projects/activites, e.g., EOSC Future, cs3mesh4eosc, AI4EOSC, EOSC DIH, Skills4EOSC, OSTrails, and RELIANCE (coordinator). Morever, EOSC is reponsible of 2 out of the 3 lots implementing the EOSC EU node. PSNC is an EOSC service provider and member of the EOSC association, and its representatives have contributed to various task forces and working groups.
Role in the Project
In FAIR2Adapt, PSNC leads the Work Package dealing with the Core FDO Infrastructure, which aims to implement the standardisation layer of the FAIR2Adapt system architecture for the representation, management and exchange of research products. This includes the specification of community-specific metadata schemas and vocabularies; the creation of FDO (RO-crate) profile(s) extending the core RO-crate for climate adaptation (PSNC); the adaptation and extension of ROHub extension to the CCA communities (PSNC); the provision of services for data and knowledge search and discovery; the integration of FAIR2Adapt services in ROHub (PSNC); and the FAIR2Adapt Infrastructure and services operation and maintenance (PSNC). PSNC members have contributed to the conception and implementation of the research object concept, and the latest RO-Crate specification, which provide a straightforward and lightweight implementation of FDOs. PSNC onboarded the reference research object management platform ROHub in EOSC, which integrates/leverages several other EOSC services.
