The University of Hamburg is one of the largest universities in Germany with around 44,000 students. It combines innovative teaching with excellent research and versatile knowledge transfer. With its \u201cInnovating and Cooperating for a Sustainable Future\u201d concept, Universit\u00e4t Hamburg is committed to sustainable science. It pursues a holistic understanding of sustainability in all its areas – from research to teaching, transfer and administration to infrastructure. Since 2019, it has been a University of Excellence with four Clusters of Excellence, one of which is the “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society” (CLICCS).<\/p>

CLICCS is developing assessments of which climate futures are possible and which are plau-sible, and identifying the social prerequisites for the deep decarbonization. The objectives also include the construction of case studies of sustainable adaptation scenarios and the develop-ment of effective stakeholder dialogs. The Research Unit Sustainability and Climate Risks (FNK) plays an important role within CLICCS. The goal of the FNK is to identify and compare alternative options for sustainable development and improve the understanding of its dynam-ics. The FNK is devoted to inter- and transdisciplinary research and education on human-induced environmental change.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

As part of FAIR2Adapt, UHAM is working to strengthen cooperation with the City of Hamburg and demonstrate the added value of FAIR and open data sharing for future applications and research. This involves increasing UHAM’s participation in projects related to regional climate change impacts, with a focus on developing knowledge and tools for risk assessment, e.g. building a Hamburg Risk Mapping methodology.<\/p>

Analysis and adaptation at city level requires very fine-scale (high-resolution) data. Granular data on exposure and vulnerability of urban sectors, infrastructure and population as well as data on climate-related stressors are managed by different city authorities under the Hamburg Senate and are not always publicly available. Here, our cooperation with the State Office for Geoinformation and Measurement (LGV) should lead to a common database and an actualization of ongoing research.<\/p>

The project develops and deploys digital services that facilitate efficient data analysis and knowledge synthesis in CCA, including the development of plugins for popular community tools. In addition, FAIR2Adapt enables the expansion of the relevant contact network of stakeholders and scientists and learning from projects in other cities and countries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
